Toshio Hirota, Engineering Director, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., is in charge of technology planning for environmental issues, especially powertrain technologies for CO2 reduction. He has been engaged in R&D activities on advanced powertrain technologies on ICE, bio-fuel and electric powertrain for 35 years. He was awarded by Japan SAE with a research on efficiency of ICE, and he received his Ph.D from Hokkaido University with a research on exhaust emissions of ICE. He also contributed to research on fuel cell and introduction of FCV to market.
