Eric Cahill

Eric is a recognized expert in business innovation and strategy in the alternative energy and advanced automotive technology industries, having led a diversity of efforts to commercialize efficient vehicle technologies.  Prior to joining ITS, Eric directed the Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE, a global competition that awarded $10M to the top production-capable vehicles able to achieve at least 100 MPGe (miles per gallon or energy equivalent).

Prior to X PRIZE, Eric led the team responsible for developing the electric drivetrain technology for the forthcoming Fisker Karma luxury plug-in hybrid sports car and assessed the market for alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicles at GM Powertrain. He has consulted to clients such as BP and Toyota, served as COO and founding member of an Internet start-up company, and served in the Program Management Office of Boeing’s $22 billion Future Combat Systems program.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Eric earned a joint Masters degree in Engineering & Management from the Sloan School of Management and a Masters in Technology & Policy from MIT’s Engineering Systems Division. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California. Eric is also a certified Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute and is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He has also made numerous public appearances and has been featured in Roll Call, WIRED Magazine, and the NY Times.
